Looks like after Singapore, Yemen is going to be the next opponent of Blue Tigers. It has been reported that if all things go right, India will play another FIFA Friendly against Yemen on November 14. Though there is still doubt regarding the official venue for this international friendly, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has given a hint of hosting this match in Guwahati.
After India’s coach Wim Koevermans praised the Siliguri stadium and the fans after the 34th Federation Cup, a duel is on between Siliguri stadium and Guwahati stadium. But as far as the ground condition of the Siliguri stadium is concerned, the pitch may be damaged if it rains. AIFF General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das said yesterday, “There are talks about a probable match against Yemen on 14 November. If the match takes place them it will probably held in Guwahati”.
It has been decided earlier, after team India’s triumph in the 75th Nehru Cup over Cameroon, that to improve their ranking, India have to play international FIFA Friendly matches against different countries. As per the decision, last Tuesday India played their first FIFA friendly match against Singapore, who are slightly better placed than India in FIFA ranking. But the Blue Tigers lost that match by 2-0. Team India coach Wim Koevermans is hopeful that his boys will come back strongly against Yemen. Meanwhile Yemen’s current rank is 157 in FIFA ranking.
