In 2006 came an Englishman to India. This little englishman was the angel to the many prayers of Indian Football loving fans. He is Bob Houghton.
Bob has dedicated to Indian Football a great deal and is surely one of the names to go down in the history of Indian Football. Bob brought with himself change, improving, and winning habits. Houghton has been developing the Indian Football team quite nicely. Apparently Indian Football before him was a bit senseless and kind of brawn over brains type. He is surely one of those managers who like to improve and build a winning team using new and winning methods and techniques and the Indian national football team has not been shy of reaping the rewards. Winning the nehru cup twice in a row. Winning the AFC challenge cup which eventually qualified them for the Asia cup. He has also made his players global stars. Sunil chettri who now plays in U.S.A with Kansas city wizards is rising to stardom while Subrata Paul and Gourmangi Singh got various offers from different international clubs. Bob was a successful manager at Malmo FF and guided his team to a European cup final and it was the only European cup final which featured a swedish team and also won many svenska and allsvenskan cups. These team was managed by Houghton. Got china a bronze medal in the dynasty club when he managed them. He even had a brief playing career at different clubs most notably at Fulham and was termed a profilic striker by managers and players. I a football fan pray to god that he keeps sending these kind of angels to Indian Football so we keep on prospering and growing.
