With the game plan thrown into disarray after just 13 seconds we went into half time behind and struggling to keep the ball and win the midfield battle it would be bold substitutions that would deliver victory for Mourinho. So with the pressure on to inspire the team and make the changes to get a result he did not disappoint.
Bold half time substitutions have become his trademark and he made one by bringing off Michael Essien and bringing on Demba Ba.
Immediate impact and the goals
The impact was almost immediate as Chelsea instantly looked a more stable and threatening proposition and it took just ten minutes for Chelsea to restore parity with substitute Ba at the heart of the goal with Cahill knocking in a rebound after the striker hit the outside of the post.
The second goal became inevitable and it was no surprise when it was John Terry making his 400th Premier League appearance headed home from a recycled set piece.
The icing on the cake was of course Ba getting on the scoresheet and making the game safe with a brilliant strikers finish following determined work from Ramires.
Review of the game
A terrible start to the game and a lacklustre first half but the changes worked and we won on a weekend when others stumbled, I will take that.
Man of the match
Has to be Torres for me, even when we were playing poorly he was one of the bright spots and although he did not score he was our most consistent performer.
Top stuff!
