Panathinaikos announced today they have released former French international defender Jean-Alain Boumsong by mutual agreement.
“We thank him for his service to the team and we wish him luck in his career,” the club said in a statement.
The former Lyon, Juventus and Newcastle United player joined Panathinaikos in 2010 on a three-year contract with a reported annual salary of about one million euros.
Boumsong, 33, played in 77 matches for Panathinaikos scoring seven goals.
