#3 Brazil have a record-breaking game as they keep yet another clean sheet at home
Peru rarely threatened Brazil in the game and they found it tough to create meaningful chances. They could only register one shot on target and, as a result, suffered their fifth defeat of the qualifying campaign.
Well, it was a great outing for the hosts as they kept a clean sheet and maintained a 100% record. With this clean sheet, Selecao created history by becoming the first South American team to keep a clean sheet in nine consecutive home games in the competition. This was also their sixth consecutive clean sheet this campaign.
Brazil and South American football, in general, are renowned for their attacking flair. However Brazil have conceded just two goals conceded in eight games. Their defenders and goalkeeper also deserve some praise for that.
#2 After a lively first half, the intensity dropped down in the second
The game got off to a good start, at least for the hosts, who continued their impressive campaign with a couple of early chances. Peru also had one half-chance, with Gianluca Lapadula's shot going over the bar.
Brazil broke the deadlock in the 14th minute thanks to some great work from Neymar. The PSG star set up Everton Ribeiro in the box, who sidefooted the effort to find the back of the net.
The midfielder thought he scored his second goal of the match five minutes before the break. However, his shot was saved by Pedro Gallese but the rebound fell kindly for Neymar who tapped in to double Brazil's lead.
When the game resumed post the break, Brazil seemed content with a 2-0 margin and the chances came few and few between for either side.
#1 Neymar runs the show for Brazil
The highly anticipated clash between Brazil and Argentina was canceled under controversial circumstances earlier this week. Brazil did not let that affect their morale and recorded another comfortable win in their qualifying campaign. Neymar was the architect of the win over Peru.
This was the 69th international goal for the PSG star. Among active goalscorers in South America, Neymar is only behind PSG teammate Lionel Messi.
Thanks to his goal just five minutes before the break, he is now Brazil's all-time top scorer in World Cup qualifying fixtures. He has been in great form recently and is only expected to add to his ever-growing reputation and goal tally.
