Highlights: Last gasp goal helps Brazil edge past Peru in Copa America

Neymar was involved in both goals as Brazil beat Peru

Brazil started their Copa America campaign with a 2-1 win over Peru in a come from behind victory. Peru took the lead through Christian Cueva who struck after just three minutes. But the lead was shortlived as Neymar levelled the scores just two minutes later.

Brazil put themselves under pressure early on when David Luiz gave a backpass to the keeper who could only manage a weak clearance, which landed straight in the path of Cueva, who made no mistake from ten yards.

Brazil wasted no time in getting back to terms when Dani Alves delivered a cross from the right which was headed home by un unmarked Neymar.

From then on, Brazil found it hard to break down Peru and had to wait till injury time to secure a win. It was Douglas Costa who struck late into the stoppage time to ensure they started off with a win.

Costa was set up by a beautiful defence-splitting pass from Neymar. The Brazilian made no mistake from close range. Brazil under Dunga have won their last 11 games and have only conceded three goals since their forgettable World Cup outing on home soil.

The match was an open affair at the start with both teams scoring in a span of just five minutes. The rest of the match was a tight affair. The match seemed to be heading for a draw when Neymar produced a moment of brilliance by teeing up Costa. Neymar’s through pass found an unmarked Costa who coolly slotted past the keeper.

Brazil go top of the group as Colombia slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Venezuela. The Selecao last won the trophy in 2007 after they defeated Argentina.
