Rio de Janeiro, September 25 (IANS) Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva will miss the Selecao’s international friendlies against South Korea and Zambia next month with a hamstring tear.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury during PSG’s 1-1 draw with Monaco in France’s Ligue 1 on Sunday, reports Xinhua.
“I have bad news, but it could have been worse. I’ve had an exam and will be sidelined for six weeks, according to the doctors,” Silva wrote on Instagram.
The injury is a repeat of the problem that kept him out for almost two months last season. Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is likely to replace Silva in his starting line-up with Bayern Munich centre-half Dante.
The Selecao will play South Korea in Seoul Oct 12 and Zambia in Beijing three days later.
