Brazil international striker Luis Fabiano struck a 79th-minute winner as Sao Paulo recovered from a goal down to defeat Bolivia’s The Strongest 2-1 in their Copa Libertadores group stage clash.
The former Sevilla star took advantage of a precise Paulo Henrique Ganso cross to slide a left-footer past goalkeeper Daniel Vaca at Sao Paulo’s Morumbi Stadium Thursday, reports Xinhua.
Earlier, winger Osvaldo cancelled out Marcos Barrera’s opener with a low drive after Fabiano’s shot was parried clear by Vaca.
After the match, Fabiano said he was delighted to equal team-mate Rogerio Ceni as the Brazilian outfit’s leading Copa Libertadores scorer with 12 goals.
“I’m very happy to have been able to help the team with my goal and equal a legend like Rogerio,” Fabiano said.
