A member of the Brazilian 1970 FIFA World Cup winning team, Paulo Cesar has admitted to selling his gold medal to fuel his cocaine addiction. The former Brazilian international expressed regret at selling his “precious medal”.
He revealed that his addiction to the drug began while playing for French club Marseille. Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, Gremio, Vasco da Gama and Corinthians are among the other clubs he plied his trade at during his career.
He won 57 caps for his national team, scoring 10 goals during that period. He featured in the 1970 World Cup alongside the likes of Pelé, Tostão, Rivellino and Jairzinho.
