Brazilian midfielder Raffael has returned to the Bundesliga after signing a four-year contract with Borussia Moenchengladbach from Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev, his new club confirmed on Monday.
“Gladbach fought hard to get me, I could feel their trust in me,” said the 28-year-old midfielder, who will take part in Tuesday’s pre-season training after passing the medical.
Having already played for Hertha Berlin and Schalke, where he spent the last six months on loan, Raffael is no stranger to the Bundesliga, with 126 appearances and 25 goals in Germany’s top flight.
“Raffael is the type of player who will bring creativity and speed, something which has been lacking in the past year,” said Borussia’s director of sport Max Eberl.
This is the third time Raffael will work with Gladbach’s Swiss coach Lucien Favre after the pair were previously together at FC Zurich and Hertha.
“He is important to the team not only as a footballer, but as a human being,” said Favre.
