Rio de Janeiro, Jan 30 (IANS):
Brazilian Serie B club Guarani has rejected reports it is interested in signing troubled former Brazil striker Adriano.
Guarani president Alvaro Negrao denied a secret meeting had taken place between the club’s football director Tinoco and the former Inter Milan striker, reports Xinhua.
“Adriano and Tinoco are good friends and maybe that’s how the stories began,” Negrao told Brazilian daily Estado de Sao Paulo Tuesday.
“There are no negotiations taking place with Adriano. I was asked if I would like to have the player and I said yes. That is all.”
Adriano, 30, has not played since March last year. He was sacked by Flamengo in November amid reports of his alleged alcohol problems and repeated absences from training after recovering from Achilles tendon surgery.
