Manchester United have finally agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Robin van Persie.
The official websites of both clubs have confirmed about the deal. Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move.
United have beaten off competition from Manchester City and Juventus to sign last season’s Footballer of the Year. The 29 year-old dutch striker becomes the first player to leave Arsenal for Manchester United since Viv Anderson way back in the 1987.
Van Persie’s exit is a huge blow to Arsenal, who have seen top players leave the club in recent seasons. Van Persie follows Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri out of the club in pursuit of adding silverware to their cabinets.
