After a see-saw transfer saga involving Luiz Suarez and Arsenal, it now seems likely that the Uruguayan striker will be staying at Liverpool after the Merseyside club reiterated that they would not be selling their star player.
However, manager Brendan Rodgers feels that it is imperative for Suarez to apologize to his teammates before he can be welcomed back to the fold.
‘Initially there will be an apology to his team-mates and the club, then a recognition that he is ready to fight for the club,’ Rodgers was quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.
‘I know that we are not seeing the Luis Suarez I know. He has spent some days working on his own. When he comes back from Uruguay we will see how it goes further.
‘We are all on the same page. He won’t be going to Arsenal, that’s for sure. When Luis is committed to the cause, we will welcome him back with open arms.
‘I was made aware at the end of last season that a number of clubs would come in. The reality is that one have done.’
Suarez has been involved in many controversies during his tenure at Liverpool and is currently serving at 10-match ban for attempting to bite Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
