Manchester United legend Bryan Robson gave Paul Pogba the seal of approval after his arrival at Old Trafford. Pogba signed for the Red Devils for a world record £89m transfer fee thus making him the world’s most expensive football player.

Bryan Robson feels that United made the right decision in paying the huge fee. Speaking to the club website, the former Manchester United captain said, “You have got to go out and buy the best players if you want to compete with the top teams. It’s why we’re having a real go this summer and are supporting Jose Mourinho in the market. That’s great to see. We’ve always been classed as the best club in the world, up there competing with the top teams, and it is what Manchester United are all about.
Robson also went on to say that he believed Pogba could go on to win the Ballon D’Or: “Yes, it is achievable. He’s got the presence and has got the ability. We just hope his team members give him that mantle where he can go on and prove himself as one of the best footballers in the world.”
The French midfielder who is Mourinho's fourth signing of the summer is set to receive a whopping £220,000-per-week.
According to Robson, Pogba will play ahead rather than a deep midfielder at United. “I don’t see Jose using him the way France used him at the Euros. I think he’s more of an attacking player. He can make things happen further forward up the park. I would have thought Jose would use him somewhere further up the field where he can try to create and score goals.”
Robson also felt that the arrival of Pogba makes United the favourites for the Premier League title. “When you add the new signings to the players we already had at the club – the youngsters like Martial and Rashford should improve again this season and the top-class international players - it looks a nicely balanced squad at this moment in time. Everyone should be quite excited going into the season.”
Manchester United play their first game of the new Premier League season at Bournemouth on Sunday, 14th August.
