Are Hoffenheim the most entertaining team in the League?
Whilst there are those harping on about the fact that the League is dead, as the Bavarians are once again walking away with it, stats say otherwise. A total of 486 goals have already been scored so far this season at a stupendous average of 3.19 per game, the highest return in 27 years. Contributing a major part to that, has been Hoffenheim, whose games have combined for a total of 74 at a staggering average of 4.35 goals per game.
Although they are languishing near the bottom of the table, the Hoffenheim faithful can’t really complain that they haven’t been entertained as their side has certainly done that. Only Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have scored more goals than Markus Gisdol’s side. But the problem has been the fact that they have the joint-worst defense in the League, having already conceded 38 goals. Earlier in the season, after a 4-4 draw against Werder Bremen, their coach summed up beautifully by saying: “If we had scored seven goals, we would have conceded seven as well.” And whilst that might not be great for the fans, for the neutrals watching, that only reaffirms the belief that if goals are what you are after, then Hoffenheim is where it’s at.
