USMNT forward Cade Cowell made history earlier this year when he signed for Mexican side Club Deportivo Guadalajara (Chivas) in January 2024. Chivas is one of the premier clubs of the Mexican Liga MX and has historically been known to sign only players with a Mexican lineage.
Cade Cowell is one of the rare American players that the club has signed in history and the 20-year-old signed for the club after his stay at the San Jose Earthquakes. He played 114 games for his former club, scoring 12 goals and creating 12 more.
Although Cade Cowell has been born and raised in the United States, he shares his Mexican roots because of his mother Amber Maldonado Cowell. The 20-year-old also had to get a Mexican passport for his transfer to the Liga MX outfit.
