Can Mancini take City forward?

Well, what an end to the premier league season it was; adjectives in English are not enough to describe it. It was the final 5 minutes that decided the season. But, before we draw conclusions from the season, and think about how our teams did, we need to take a moment and think about the team which finished above every one, Manchester City. Has the blue moon finally risen or is it false dawn? Can Mancini take City further from here or this is his best? Can they hold off next year what will be a hungrier and more experienced United, and the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal,which will be back from their struggles through signings, and proper re-thinking from summer? Can City start to dream of world domination already?

Well, let us start with the first one. I, at the moment, applaud the 2 trophies they won in 2 years. But Mancini has always been about Domestic leagues and cups; he never really took a team to the Champions league glory, or anything close to that. Now, with the Premier League in the bag, what would be real success is success in the Champions league, or at least a good run in it. I don’t think Mancini can guarantee that.

Compare City and United, and it would look like we are insulting the City squad filled with so much of talent and quality. The title should have been wrapped up in April, or at least with a handful of games remaining. How can a side which lost to 3 to 4 starters in 11, even come close to challenging them?

A sign of a good manager is one who can control player power. Sir Alex, Mourinho, and Pep all showed it in their ways, but what about Mancini? He is no closer to controlling them, and instead acts like his is their puppet. He said Carlos would never play again for City, yet, boom, there he was playing for them in the same season. He said Mario’s career was finished at City after his involvement at Arsenal, and then Sunderland. But he was also back, and finally playing. Every time he says or does something like this, it isn’t long before his comments are turned into an absolute joke. After establishing themselves as alpha dogs, the owners won’t accept anything other than success. Only Sergio Aguero didn’t make waves in the media about some issue, from among the strike force. With the likes of Adebayor and Santa Cruz coming back, where is the place for them? They might be sold, but who wants them for those hyper inflated salaries? Even Real Madrid passed on the opportunity to sign Adebayor because of his heavy salaries.

I’m not criticizing City because I’m a United fan; I whole heartedly congratulate them for their stunning victory, but these issues should be resolved before they come back to haunt them.

I suggest they sell Santa, Ade and Dzeko. Keep Mario for another year. Either win over your players like Mourinho, or crack the whip like Sir Alex. But, keep control of your squad. Mancini is the stuff of legends, and City offer him a chance to banish those sayings of the ineffectiveness of his powers in Europe. With United hungrier and with quality of football ever improving, the quest for Man City has just begun, and questions will keep popping up. They are not even close to world domination. I wish Man City all the best for the coming season and, for now, to enjoy the champagne, you guys have earned it

I’m a true Red devil, but I only fairly point out concerns for Manchester City. I hope City will be up there with the top sides in the Premier League for a long time.
