The semi-final draw for the Capital One Cup took place yesterday with three EPL teams in the final four. The biggest clash will see Liverpool take on Chelsea while Tottenham Hotspur will face League One side Sheffield United.
Last night, Liverpool traveled to Bournemouth and won 3-1 with goals from Raheem Sterling and Lazar Markovic. Chelsea had seen off Derby the previous night with a similar scoreline. Sheffield United had reached the semi-finals when they knocked out Southampton at Bramall Lane while Tottenham had thrashed Newcastle United 4-0.
Chelsea will play the first leg of the semi-final at Anfield while Sheffield United will travel to White Hart Lane for the first leg.
Look forward to playing Chelsea: Rodgers
Speaking after the quarter-final win, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said: “It will be a fantastic tie.
“If you want to win this competition you have to play against the good sides. The most important thing was getting through but our performance was brilliant.
“We’re into the semi-final, it’s over two legs and it didn’t matter who we got. We needed to get there, it’s Chelsea and we look forward to it,” he concluded.
