Carlos Vela: I wasn't happy at Arsenal

Vela in action for Real Sociedad

Arsenal’s hopes of re-signing Carlos Vela could be dashed after the striker admitted that he was never happy at the Emirates.

The Mexico international was signed by Arsenal in 2005 but spend the majority of his time at the club out on loan. Vela moved to La Liga side Real Sociedad in 2012 and hasn’t looked back since then.

Vela’s impressive form at Sociedad has got the attention of Arsenal who now want to activate his buy back clause which is rumored to be around £3.3 million.

"The majority of Sociedad's players are from the youth system and this has turned the dressing room into something more familiar," he told beIN SPORTS.

"I never felt comfortable in London and I never enjoyed it, however, when I got to Sociedad, I found a place where I was very happy, where I'm enjoying myself every day.

"The English game is very straightforward. Here, the difference is that there are more touches of the ball and that benefits me."

The 25-year-old scored just thrice in his 29 appearances for Arsenal but has thrived at Sociedad where he won their Player of the Year award twice.
