Celtic managed a 0-0 draw in their second leg match against IF Elfsborg, which was enough to see them go through to the play-offs of Champions League, after winning their first leg match 1-0 at home.
After a quiet first half, with very few chances created, the best opportunity fell to Joe Ledley when he failed to convert a loose ball coming from a deflected free-kick of Kris Common.
IF Elfsborg played good football in the initial stages with a host of chances falling to their striker Mohamed Bangura, who was unable to convert them. Bangura proved to be a threat to the Celtic goalkeeper throughout the match but never succeeded.
Celtic is through to the play-offs and will now await their opponents, as reported by UEFA.com.
In another important clash, PSV Eindhoven defeated Belgium’s Zulte Waregem 3-0 to progress to the play-offs with an aggregate 5-0. Starting the game with an advantage of two goals, both PSV and Waregem created oppurtunities.
Zulte’s Steve Colpaert handled the ball on the goal line, which led to him being sent off and resulted in a penalty. First goal was scored from the spot by Tim Matavz. Bruno Godeau of Zulte scored an own goal to double PSV’s lead.
