Real Madrid became the first club to score a 1000 goals in European club competitions when Benzema scored in their 5-1 drubbing of Swiss side FC Basel.
The reigning European champions were on 995 goals before the match began but with their indifferent domestic form off late it looked unlikely that they’d reach the milestone on the night. All that changed when all of the club’s attacking superstars- Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema and James got on the scoresheet.
The only team close to the 10 time European champions’ record is rivals Barcelona with 980 goals.
Team | Goals |
Real Madrid | 1000 |

Star forward Cristiano Ronaldo got closer to a personal milestone as his strike took his UEFA Champions league tally to 69, just two behind Raul’s all-time record of 71 goals.
Rival Leo Messi is third with 67 goals.
Messi will have a chance to equal or overtake Ronaldo as Barcelona play APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday night.
