Lisbon, Nov 6 Sporting beat Schalke 4-2 in the fourth round of the European Champions League at the Jose Alvalade stadium in Portuguese capital Lisbon.
Sporting forward Islam Slimani opened the scoring for Schalke in the 17th minute through an own goal Wednesday night, before Sporting defender Naby Sarr equalized in the 26th with a header 10 minutes later, reports Xinhua.
Jefferson scored in the 52nd with a left-footed effort outside the box and Nani made it 3-1 in the 72nd assisted by Andre Carrillo.
Schalke defender Dennis Aogo's effort in the 88th went into the top right corner, making it 3-2. Algeria forward Islam Slimani sealed the victory in the 90th.
Sporting won for the first time this season, taking it four points up in Group G and raising its confidence of reaching the knock-out phase. It is just a point behind Schalke with five points.
