Tim Howard (15): Unlucky to lose his clean sheet, Howard made a number of good saves throughout the game.
Seamus Coleman (24): Active going forward, Coleman went past his man on three occasions and created two chances.
Phil Jagielka (23): The England centre back made six interceptions, more than any other player on the pitch.
Sylvain Distin (42): Distin won four tackles, made two interceptions and made ten clearances.
Leighton Baines (2): Baines put in seven crosses, but failed to find a teammate with any of them.
Gareth Barry (-4): Got stuck in, making six tackles, and made more passes than any other player on the pitch (51).
James McCarthy (-3): McCarthy won seven of his eight headed duels, but was unsuccessful with eight of his nine tackles.
Kevin Mirallas (14): The Belgian created two chances over the course of the game and completed 92% of his tackles.
Steven Pienaar (9): Made 41 passes (89%) and was fouled three times.
Leon Osman (1): Osman won just one of his four attempted tackles, in addition to a further two fouls.
Steven Naismith (-14): A late replacement for Lacina Traore, Naismith contested a massive 18 headed duels, but could only win three of them. Ten inches shorter than Traore, Naismith had a difficult afternoon spearheading a gameplan built for Traore.
Substitutes:
Ross Barkley (-22): Struggled to get into the game and made just six passes.
Gerard Deulofeu (-2): The Spaniard didn’t attempt a single pass but did take on his man four times, although he was only successful with one of those.
Aiden McGeady (6): Barely on for long enough to impact, McGeady completed three of four attempted passes.
