Chelsea 2-2 West Brom Player Ratings: Hazard stars as Chelsea grab late equaliser

Chelsea:

Cech (-47): Indebted to Hazard for his late leveller Cech looked to have cost his side the points when he somehow allowed Sessegnon’s shot to elude him, on an afternoon to forget for the Czech who was also bullied aerially at times.

Ivanovic (18): Contributed nine crosses from right back, but only found a teammate with two of them.

Azpilicueta (11): Solid at left back before being sacrificed for Mikel as Chelsea pushed for an equaliser. Made 90% of his passes

Lampard (17): Completed 87% of his passes and made three tackles before being substituted early in the second half

Cahill (18): Made 94% of the 64 passes he attempted, and also made five clearances.

Terry (30): Chelsea’s captain took until the 50th minute to misplace a pass, but was complicit in West Brom’s opening goal as he stood rooted to the spot and allowed Shane Long to nod in.

Willian (5): Willian was tidy with the ball – making 93% of his passes – but didn’t actually do much with it. As his pass map shows, most of his passes were backwards and he only created one chance.

Ramires (22): Ramires made 71 passes – more than any other player on the pitch. However his performance will be remembered for “winning” the late penalty that snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat.

Eto’o (22): Showed good reactions to dispossess Ridgewell and tap in Chelsea’s opening goal

Oscar (37): Took four shots on goal and completed two take ons on his way to a performance score of 37.

Hazard (55): Hazard netted the contentious late penalty that preserved Mourinho’s unbeaten home record, and also secured the Squawka Man of The Match award. The Belgian achieved a pass accuracy of 91% over the course of the game.

Substitutes

Mata (-3): On for 18 minutes as Chelsea chased the game, but failed to create a single chance and only took one shot on goal.

Mikel (0): A quiet cameo from Mikel, who came on as Mourinho pressed for an equaliser and switched to a back three

Ba (2): Had 27 minutes up front but didn’t do much, and failed to register a single shot.

West Brom

Myhill (6): Myhill could do little about either goal and will be particularly aggrieved about Chelsea’s opener having made a good save from the initial shot.

Reid (-13): Didn’t manage to get forward much, but made eight clearances as his team dug in.

Ridgewell (-9): At fault for Chelsea’s opener as he switched off and dithered on the ball, but partially redeemed himself by playing a part in Sessegnon’s goal.

McAuley (1): Active in both boxes McAuley had two headed attempts and made eight clearances.

Olsson (5): Made a colossal 11 clearances for West Brom and was incandescent with rage when a controversial penalty denied his side the win, picking up a booking for his protests.

Amalfitano(-2): Attempted five crosses, finding a teammate with two of them.

Mulumbu (24): Made seven interceptions: 44% of his team’s total.

Yacob (-19): Eclipsed by his midfield partner Mulumbu, Yacob made less than half the number of passes that Mulumbu did. (18 compared to 38)

Long (11). Towered above John Terry to head home West Brom’s equaliser, and won a further five headed duels from 11 attempts as West Brom often left him chasing clearances.

Sessegnon (20): Thought he had given West Brom the three points with his 68thminute strike, but could only watch on from the bench as Hazard cancelled his effort out.

Brunt (-9): Only managed to make 59% of his passes – misplacing 14 from 34 attempts.

Substitutes

Morrison (-9): Struggled to get to grips with the pace of the game and only made two passes from eight.

Anichebe (3): Only on for 12 minutes as Chelsea pushed forward, but own his only headed duel
