Chelsea have finally booked their place at next season's Champions League after they clinched an impressive 3-0 win against a strong Watford side. Maurizio Sarri has been constantly criticized for a series of disappointing results lately and some of the Blues faithful even called for the manager's head.
Nevertheless, Chelsea have shown an improvement from last season as they now have a guaranteed finish in the top 4 zone plus a possible Europa League title. Surprisingly, several of Chelsea's highly-criticized players also stepped up in the Watford game and brought a convincing victory for the team.
Players such as Jorginho and Pedro Rodriguez played an important role in both of Chelsea's attack and defense. However, Jorginho isn't listed as one of the top 3 Chelsea best players this time. Now, we will take a look at 3 men who sealed a Champions League spot for Sarri:
#3 Pedro
The former Barcelona star has seen some criticsms directed towards him following a turbulent display throughout the season. He had just scored 3 goals and provided a single assist between early March to late April. His poor finishing and often wasteful movements saw him benched in a considerable part of this season.
However, the Spaniard could easily become one of Chelsea's most powerful weapons at his best days. This time, the 31-year-old delivered a complete performance to secure the much needed 3 points for the Blues. He diligently tracked back and even registered a considerable 5 tackles plus 1 clearance despite deployed as a right forward.
He also contributed significantly in attack as he delivered a sublime through ball to assist Gonzalo Higuain in the 75th minute. He could have scored for himself had Ben Foster failed to deny the Spaniard's powerful shot in the second half.
#2 Ruben Loftus-Cheek
The 23-year-old once again showed that he could be the future for Chelsea. Maurizio Sarri has been reluctant to give him a chance in the Premier League as he started just 5 times in the competition so far.
However, his enormous talent has been visible. He has scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in the league despite mostly playing as a central midfielder with such a limited game time. His goal involvements now rival Ross Barkley who has had significantly more game time than him.
He also delivered a near perfect display for the Blues after replacing the injured N'golo Kante in the 10th minute. He scored the opener for Chelsea with a thumping header and became a serious trouble for Watford's defense.
His 93% pass completion rate ensured Chelsea's smooth play while his 5 successful dribbles left Javi Gracia's men with some hassles. His defensive work also should not be underestimated as he registered impressive 5 tackles and 4 interceptions throughout the game.
#1 Eden Hazard
It is now becoming more and more evident that Chelsea should do everything possible to keep their Belgian Wizard at the Stamford Bridge. A selfless winger who is capable of scoring as well as delivering assists as he pleases, Hazard became Watford's worst nightmare to seal the win for Chelsea.
He might not have scored a goal in this match but, his silky movements and pinpoint passes had put Watford defenders in serious trouble. The 28-year-old completed the most dribbles as well as becoming the player with the most key passes in the game.
He delivered a sublime cross to assist Loftus-Cheek in the 48th minute before providing an accurate corner kick to help David Luiz in scoring Chelsea's second goal. Overall, he put up another flawless display and was the player who wanted to win the most for the London outfit.
