#2 Jorginho demonstrates the role of a pivot
Maurizio Sarri has always had an extra affection towards Jorginho from his Napoli days. He has been highly insistent that Jorginho keeps playing as the pivot while Kante offers a different threat up high. Chelsea fans and other pundits have constantly criticized Sarri's stubbornness of sticking with the Italian as a pivot.
In Baku, Jorginho answered a lot of those questions. In a totally dominant midfield performance by the Blues, which accounted for just about more than 1/3rd of the team's passing, Jorginho completed 47 out of his 53 passes, at 89%. His importance though lies more in positioning well, intercepting passes, and tackling.
He provided Chelsea with the control over the two pivots deployed by Unai Emery and it has to be said that he outperformed both of them. He made one interception and seven tackles which is a big contribution. Compared to Torreira, Xhaka, Maitland-Niles, Kolasinac, he was way ahead in controlling the middle.
This one is a catalyst which goes unnoticed.
