Chelsea are closing in on Atletico Madrid’s left-back Filipe Luis, according to the Metro.
The rumours have linked the Blues with the Spanish side’s impressive full-back after another standout performance at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night. It is believed that Chelsea are close to signing him for around £16.5 million.
This comes after, according to reports, Chelsea have agreed a deal for Diego Costa.
This speculation throws Ashley Cole’s Chelsea career further into doubt as his contract expires in the summer and there seems to be no sign of a new contract offer on the table for the 33-year-old.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Southampton youngster Luke Shaw, but the £30m price-tag, plus strong competition from Manchester United, appears to have forced Mourinho to look elsewhere for other alternatives.
And it seems the Portuguese has set set his sights on Atleti’s Filipe Luis, who helped his team-mates knock Chelsea out of the Champions League in midweek. The Spaniards beat the Blues 3-1 at Stamford Bridge to advance to the final where they now play their city rivals, Real Madrid, in Lisbon.
It would be bad news for Atletico fans as Chelsea are already planning to raid the La Liga leaders for star striker Diego Costa, who could cost upwards of £35m, while on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be recalled to west London
