What's the story?
Chelsea are on the hunt.
Having clawed back, and then overcome, the gap between themselves and Manchester United for 2nd spot (United lead by 2 points at the moment, but beat Arsenal today and the Blues go back up) they are looking for reinforcements for the 2nd half of the season, and are set to beat United there too.
With Jose Mourinho interested in signing a left back, and having a look at Juventus' Alex Sandro, Chelsea are moving quickly to make sure they sign the Brazilian on-board before the Red Devils can get to him.
They are, as per the good folk over at the Mirror, pushing to complete a £50 million (or €56.4 million) deal that will have Sandro boot up for the Blues within the month.
In case you didn't know
Chelsea were behind Alex Sandro all of last summer, but Juventus held on to him. He is, though, not in the good books of Max Allegri and while he has taken a part in each of Il Bianconeri's Champions League matches, and taken part in 12 Serie A games, it appears the Brazilian wants out, and he may be getting his wish this month itself.
The heart of the matter
Chelsea have lacked a natural back-up to the in-form Marocs Alonso at left wing-back and thanks to the vital importance of wing-backs in Conte's style of play, a lack of depth in that position has hampered Conte's attempts to string together a consistent run of good resuls.
With Sandro coming in, that ought to be solved.

The lad would be a great addition to the Chelsea team
Author's Take
It would be unfair on Marcos Alonso to lose out on a starting position despite playing consistently excellent football but wouldn't a fullback coming in for €56.4 million expect (and be expected) to start regularly?
If Conte can somehow handle that delicate situation, this would be a class signing for the Blues.
