Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has been fined £8000 and warned about his future conduct after he was sent off in last month’s 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Mourinho walked on to the pitch to make his feelings known to referee Chris Foy after Chelsea’s Ramires was shown a red card for a two-footed tackle on Villa’s Karim El Ahmadi, an incident that led to a touchline cacophony.
He denied an improper conduct charge, but it was proven at a personal hearing with an independent regulatory commission on Wednesday.
“I don’t know why I was sent off,” Mourinho said after the match. “I asked, but the referee refused to speak to me.”
Chelsea finished the match with nine men, after Willian and Ramires got sent off, the latter one leaving Mourinho indignated.
Mourinho was critical of Foy after the game as Chelsea’s lead at the top of the Premier League was reduced to four points.
Mourinho claimed he was trying to speak to Foy because Ramires was pushed by Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, who had been substituted.
“Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been fined £8,000 and warned as to his future conduct following an independent regulatory commission hearing,” the FA statement read.
“Mourinho denied a breach of FA rule E3 in that his behaviour in re-entering the field of play and approaching the match referee (Foy) in an attempt to speak to him, in or around the 90th minute of the game against Aston Villa on March 15, 2014, amounted to improper conduct.”
However, he was fined and warned at a personal hearing yesterday, the 9th of April.
