Chelsea are planning a shock swap deal with Real Madrid for Ramires, with Luka Modric coming the other way, according to the Metro.
The Croatian midfield dictator has been a long-term favourite of Jose Mourinho and the Portuguese coach landed Modric during his spell at Real Madrid, which did not come to fruition at the time.
After a tough start to life in Spain, Modric has now become a key man for the Real Madrid side and his value has risen. After Madrid made a move for Ramires last week, Mourinho is willing to do business if the Los Blancos allow Modric to come the other way.
Ramires has excelled since moving to west London and played an instrumental role in helping the Blues win the Champions League in 2012.
Madrid are looking to move for the Brazilian and with a remarkable £25 million offer on the table, Mourinho might be tempted to offload the midfielder. However, the Portuguese coach is keen on Modric and is preparing to lure the midfielder to Stamford Bridge in a swap deal.
The Blues have already managed to steal a stunning £50 million from Paris Saint-Germain for the services of David Luiz.
