Chelsea have confirmed their striker Tammy Abraham has left Stamford Bridge temporarily as he has joined Bristol City on a season-long loan on August 5, Friday.

The teenager came through the ranks of the west London club and has already won the FA Youth Cup and the UEFA Youth League with the Blues. Guus Hiddink, who was the interim manager at Chelsea following the sacking of Jose Mourinho gave Abraham a chance to make his senior debut at the end of the last season.

Abraham featured against Liverpool and Leicester City. Hiddink was replaced by Antonio Conte and the former Juventus and Italy coach has decided not to include the 18-year-old in his plans at the club, which has now seen him join the Championship side.

A statement on Chelsea's official website read, "Tammy Abraham has today joined Bristol City on a season-long loan. An England Under-19 international, Abraham joins the Championship side as they start their season tomorrow at home to Wigan Athletic."

The England Under-19 international was a part of the Young Lions squad at the UEFA Youth European championship and was also part of Conte' pre-season squad. Abraham is hoping that he can score regularly for Bristol during his time with his new club until the end of the 2016-17 season.

“I just want to do what I’ve been doing for Chelsea while I’m here – scoring goals and creating chances,” Abraham told Bristol City Player HD. “I know it will be harder to do that (in the Championship) because it’s a new challenge and not something I’m used to, but I’ll have to adapt and do my best for Bristol City.

“I class myself as a goalscorer. I’m an exciting player on the ball, so expect a lot of chances and hopefully more goals. It’s been non-stop football all summer. I came back from the Euros and we got to the semi-finals, so we did alright, but I’ve just been playing football since. I had a clue that I was going to arrive here – it was just a matter of when. To do it just before the new season was a bit of a rush, and I only came back yesterday from Chelsea’s first team pre-season.”

“Obviously it’s an exciting move to come to such a team as Bristol City with the players they’ve got and the staff and coaches that I’ve met. I just want to do well here.”
