The Italian giants managed by former Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez were said to be targeting Chelsea’s fullback Cesar Azpilicueta in the January transfer window according to reports in Gazzetta dello Sport. But the Spanish fullback has ruled out a move to Naples, saying he cannot imagine playing elsewhere.
“Napoli? I do not imagine myself playing for a team other than Chelsea, I’m beginning to get good playing time, and I hope to play and win titles here.” he said when asked by a Spanish newspaper AS.
The 24-year-old enjoyed good game time playing forty eight games during his time at Stamford Bridge but now has fallen behind Ivanovic in the pecking order leading to some speculation that he could be on the move this January.
Former Blues manager Rafael Benitez was evidently impressed by Azpilicueta during his brief time in charge at Chelsea, and has reportedly made him a top target for his new club Napoli. The Naples outfit have fallen short in this position due to long term injuries to Right backs Giandomenico Mesto and Juan Camilo Zuniga
In their search for a right-back, Napoli have also been linked with the likes of Martin Montoya and Davide Santon.
