Rumour: Chelsea looking to snap up best striker in La Liga

It has been revealed that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho shares the same agent as his top summer transfer target, Diego Costa.

The 25-year-old has been touted as Mourinho’s priority signing for the summer, as the Portuguese manager looks to fit the final piece of his attacking jigsaw at Chelsea.

Their bid to land the Brazilian-born Spaniard may be boosted by the news that Diego Costa and Jose Mourinho both share the same agent, Jorge Mendes, according to the Express.

Jorge Mendes represents both Costa and Mourinho, with the ‘super-agent’ brokering a number of deals between Chelsea and Atletico.

According to reports, the Blues have already opened preliminary talks with Atletico Madrid about signing the 19-goal striker in the summer for a fee believed to be around the £40 million mark.

Arsenal and Manchester United are also said to be interested in Costa but Chelsea are the current favourites for his signature and could tempt the Spanish side into a deal by offering goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois – who has been on-loan at Atletico for three seasons – in exchange.

Costa, apparently, has a £32m release clause in his contract, but he has committed himself to Atletico for the rest of the season.

Costa has scored with 33.3% of his shots in La Liga this season.
