Chelsea Express: Modric Offer to be Sweetened

Chelsea are reportedly playing with the idea of offloading some backup players to Tottenham as part of the deal that could bring Luka Modric to the Bridge.

Tottenham have rejected multiple offers and are adamant that Modric stays at Spurs, at least for one season. A deal worth around £30 M will be tabled in the near future by Chelsea and will include one of Salomon Kalou,Yossi Benayoun or Nicolas Anelka. Anelka has been left in the dark at Chelsea this year following Torres’ arrival and faces stiff competition from Sturridge and Kalou for a starting place.

The chase for Modric continues

Spurs face Hearts in Europa league qualifier in Edinburgh this week but Modric will not feature due to a groin strain. Andres Villas-Boas has spoken out on the fact that he wants a player of Modric’s ability, and will probably now have to settle for Porto star Joao Moutinho or Raul Meireles.
