Embarrassing video of the day: Chelsea fans duped by fake transfer rumours

With Chelsea seemingly linked to anybody and everybody, and plenty of rumours abound of who would make a switch to the Premier League, the January transfer window didn’t pass by quietly for The Blues with a couple of new faces making their way to Stamford Bridge in the form of midfield powerhouse Nemanja Matic and young defender Kurt Zouma. In an apparent attempt to keep on top of the financial fair play rules, last month also saw some familiar faces leave as Juan Mata made an unexpected switch to Old Trafford and Kevin De Bruyne brought his frustrating spell to an end by returning to Germany.

Everybody likes to have an opinion on their club and with a rise in football hipsters, arm chair pundits and club related know-it-all’s, how would your pride stand up if you were asked to give your opinion on a player your team was linked with but you’d never actually heard of? Would you crumble and admit the truth or would you try and blag your way to looking like a global football expert?

The talented team over at talkSPORT, supported by Andrew Ryan from Manchester United YouTube channel Full Time Devils did just that and decided to quiz a number of Chelsea fans before their Premier League game against Manchester United on whether they’d heard of a variety of players cleverly dreamed up using anagrams of the trick they were playing and asked for supporters opinions on whether said player was good enough to appear in the blue strip of Chelsea.

With numerous stars from across the globe constantly being linked with The Blues, fans could be forgiven for not being completely on the ball about the potential transfer dealings of their club, but pretending to know the full lowdown on made up players such as ‘Win Din Youp, Deanio (anagram for No Idea) and Lugi Bell (Gullible) is surely a crime against the laws of football fans.
