The former Spurs manager believes that despite Chelsea beating Pochettino’s men on Saturday, Tottenham are the ones with a much stronger starting XI. Tottenham got off to a brilliant start on Saturday against the Blues after Christian Eriksen’s opening goal put Spurs ahead within 12 minutes of the game. But Conte’s men hit back brilliantly as Pedro scored the equaliser right on the stroke of halftime.
Chelsea made a great start in the second half after Victor Moses scored their second goal as the Blues went back to the top of the Premier League table. The win against Tottenham has extended Chelsea’s streak to seven wins in the Premier League. But Redknapp believes that it could have been a different scenario if Mauricio Pochettino had his best XI starting the game.
Wouldn’t swap Spurs’ squad for Chelsea’s says Redknapp
"Chelsea have probably got a stronger squad but the actual starting XI, if they're fit I still wouldn't swap that Tottenham team, personally," he said on BT Sport.
Redknapp also believes that Chelsea at the moment do not have a strong enough squad to win the Premier League and that Blues do not have a convincing backline and need another left back in the squad.
"I still see three or four players in that Chelsea team who I wouldn't see in a team good enough to win the Premier League. I don't want to name them but I think they are short. I still think they're short at left-back. I'm still not convinced about the three at the back, whether they can play enough.”
"I still don't think they have enough flair in midfield,” he added.
Hazard and Costa back to their best
But the English manager seems to be enjoying watching the pair of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa play this season - together both players have scored 17 goals in this Premier League season alone.
“They have got fantastic talent, I love watching Hazard play and Costa has been outstanding, but I'm still not sure that all around that is a team that will win the league.”
Antonio Conte has brought Chelsea back on their feet after a shaky start to the Premier League season. After the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in September, the Blues have recovered to win seven straight games in the Premier League and are looking like title contenders.
Leading the line for the London club are Diego Costa and Eden Hazard who have been in outstanding form all this season. Even Victor Moses has managed to find some form under Antonio Conte’s management this season. Chelsea will be taking on Manchester City at the Etihad next week as they look to build on their lead at the top.
