According to various sources, Toni Kroos has been identified as a Chelsea target this summer. With United and Real Madrid interested, Chelsea are reportedly willing to offer a big contract to sign him.
Now it's not the first time we have been linked with a move for Kroos. Just over a month ago, we had been linked with signing him but on a free contract once he has run down the final year next season.
It seems as though that has now changed with Europe's elite clubs looking to try and obtain him this summer rather than wait another season.
Some reports have stated that Real Madrid have offered Kroos a contract that's worth around £4m per season with Manchester United also interested. In response, it seems that Chelsea are willing to pay around £20m to Bayern Munich and offer the player £7m per season to come to London instead.
Now that is a massive amount of money and some will argue that there are others out there who wouldn't cost as much or demand those kinds of wages.
However, I would like to focus on Kroos and what he offers a football team. We have seen at Bayern and yesterday against Portugal, he is the Ringmaster in midfield.
Everything good about his team's play starts with or goes through him and if anything, he keeps it nice and simple.
People talk of how good Xabi Alonso was in his prime at passing a football with a wide range of passes and variety and I believe the German is the same.
Being honest, I find it impossible to believe that Pep Guardiola would want to let him go but there had been rumours of a falling out during the course of last season and that could be the deciding factor here.
Kroos is only 24 years of age and already a world class midfielder in my view. He will continue to get better and better and if we can get hold of him this summer, alongside Cesc Fabregas, it would be a fantastic signing.
I would imagine there is plenty more to come on this story as Chelsea look to spend big this summer. With Fabregas signed and deals expected to be completed for Filipe Luis and Diego Costa in the coming days/weeks, a deal for Kroos would give a real signal of intent from the Manager, the club and the Owner for the coming season.
What do you people think of Kroos, what he would offer Chelsea in midfield and news of serious interest from Jose Mourinho?
