According to the Daily Star, Chelsea will offload blazing attacker Marko Marin back to his former club Werder Bremen to free up space for Cesc Fabregas.
Talks over a £7 million return for the 25-year-old are set to take place in the near future, with the German midfielder deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho, reports suggest the Blues could accept a lower bid to make room for the impending arrival of Fabregas.
After only making six appearances for The Blues in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, Marin spent last season on loan to Sevilla, where he played a prominent role in their triumphant Europa League campaign.
The Yugoslavia-born footballer’s contract doesn’t expire for another three years, but Mourinho is hoping to trim the squad down to free up funds for his primary targets, including the likes of £32 million Diego Costa.
Cesc Fabregas has been strongly mooted for a move to Chelsea this transfer window, with reports emerging on Tuesday that the Spaniard had all but finalised terms.
However, in a twist in the tale, Arsenal are said to be entitled to 50% of any deal over £26 million, meaning Chelsea are reluctant to match Barcelona’s £33 million asking price.
