Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas tried his hand at punditry when he appeared on the popular show Monday Night Football (MNF) acting as the special guest. He watched on as Tottenham demolished Stoke 4-0 away from home.
Fabregas had a go at picking his Premier League team of the season on that show. Unsurprisingly, he did not include any Chelsea players in the team. However, surprisingly he left out Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil from his team.
In goal. he went for fellow Spaniard, David De Gea. The Manchester United shot-stopper has been in excellent form this season and he edged out the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Hugo Lloris.
The defensive back four looks solid with Hector Bellerin, Toby Alderweireld, Robert Huth and Ryan Bertrand making the team. The inclusion of Ryan Bertrand is slightly surprising as some people might think that the likes of Fuchs or Kolarov might have got in ahead of him.
Moving on, he has gone for Riyad Mahrez and Dimitri Payet on the flanks. The midfield is full of running and drive as he has picked the impressive N’golo Kante and Dele Alli.
The strikers pick themselves as Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane have been absolutely spectacular this season. Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero might consider himself slightly unlucky as the diminutive Argentine has had another very good season.
Here is how Cesc Fabregas’ team lines up.
Conte can galvanise Chelsea – Fabregas
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas said the uncompromising attitude to hard work of incoming manager Antonio Conte is exactly what is needed to galvanize the outgoing Premier League champions.
Conte, currently in charge of Italy, will replace interim manager Guus Hiddink after the European Championship in July and Fabregas said the Italian would push Chelsea's players hard from the outset.
"From what I've heard... he's disciplined, he's a winner and he's a competitor," Fabregas said on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football.
"That's what we need. Someone that will always be on our back to push us and make us work hard, teaching us new things.
"All I know is that he wants to win straight away. No more transition, no more excuses. He wants to win and for that we'll have to be prepared from day one."
