Chelsea have officially released their brand new home kit for the 2015/16 season, according to a statement on the official club website. The new kit will be worn for the first time during the club’s pre-season tour of America, with its debut taking place in their friendly against New York Red Bulls. It was launched as a part of a new campaign called “IF IT’S NOT BLUE, IT WILL BE”, which focuses on the Chelsea players’ determination to dominate the domestic and European circuit.
Yokohama Tyres is the new official shirt sponsor of Chelsea, after the two parties reached a £40m a year deal in February of this year. This deal was double the value of their existing contract with previous shirt sponsor Samsung, which ensures that Chelsea only trail Manchester United in the shirt sponsorship table, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City lagging behind.
They released a playful campaign video as well, which features first-team players Diego Costa, John Terry, Eden Hazard, Juan Cuadrado, Oscar, Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Nemanja Matic showing off the jersey and shorts.
The Chelsea home shirts have always been blue and the design of the new shirt stays loyal to tradition. It is inspired from several classic shirts which have been fan favourites over the past few seasons, with white and red trims at the collar, shorts, socks and sleeves. The goalkeeping jersey is turquoise in colour, and has blue stripes on the collar, shorts, socks and sleeves.
The Blues will begin their quest to retain the title when they take on Swansea on August 8.
