Chelsea to sign Porto midfielder Christian Atsu

Chelsea are reportedly in talks with Porto to sign their young midfielder Christian Atsu before the end of the transfer window on September 2.

Jose Mourinho, who led Porto to Champions League glory in 2004, is said to be an admirer of the 21-year-old. Atsu would come on the cheap – only £3m – as he is in the final year of his contract.

Ghanaian Atsu, who was part of the squad that finished fourth at the African Cup of Nations tournament in South Africa earlier this year, has been capped 16 times by his country, scoring three goals in the process.
