Tonight Chelsea, I am so proud of you!.

Bayern Munich 2-2 Chelsea – Bayern win 5-4 on penalties.

I will tell you one thing about this group of Chelsea players, they are in it together, they never give in, never give up and will fight for everything and I couldn’t be more proud of our players tonight.

Let’s just put things into perspective here for a second. We were playing against supposedly the best team in Europe. We were playing against the German machine that is Bayern – winners of their domestic treble and the team that literally blew everyone away last season and dominated Europe. They still couldn’t beat us though could they?

Pep Guardiola still hasn’t beaten Chelsea. We are quite literally, a pain in Pep’s rear and I love it!.

We hear all the plaudits about Guardiola, about his old side Barcelona and about his new team Bayern Munich, but what is the one thing they have in common? They still haven’t beaten Chelsea!

Let me just make my point here. You can have all the possession you like. You can pass the ball as many times as you like, but winning football matches is all about putting the ball in the back of that net. You only did it with a lucky deflection in literally the last minute of the football match. You are a lucky bunch and you know it.

Make no mistake, although we are gutted and disappointed and are thinking “What could have been” at the moment, we will take stock of this performance, take stock of the work rate of every single player and take stock of the goals we scored and chances we created and can be positive for our season.

This wasn’t a boring defensive display that Old Trafford was last Monday. This was a performance of passion, of pride and of working hard for the team and for the manager and that is such a positive from the game.

Bayern Munich forced Petr Cech into three or maybe four saves during the whole two hours of football. Chelsea created the same clear cut chances despite our backs being stuck against the wall for the most part.

Fernando Torres and Eden Hazard scored two fantastic goals tonight. Torres with an instinctive finish that took us back to his first season in the Premier League and as for Eden Hazard, well what can you say! Someone not known for his work tracking back, he did it all night long but still had the class to set up the first goal and score the second when Chelsea were down to ten men.

As for the Ramires sending off, I don’t think we can complain really can we?

Let’s be honest, Franck Ribery is at the top of his game. He was outstanding (when he wasn’t moaning) and took his goal well. It pains me to see him in the crowd with a megaphone celebrating with the fans after the game though! Toss pot!

The goal with literally the last kick of the game was hard on Chelsea. Ten seconds away from the victory, it is tough to take.

As for the penalties, we all know it’s a lottery and I just hope that Romelu Lukaku reacts to tonight in the right way. He is a young boy with so much to learn. Things like this could really affect young players, but I am sure with the right people around him that he has at the club, he will focus on the positive and look forward to the next game.

It’s funny but although we lost on penalties, there are so, so many positives to take from tonight when everything calms down.

The fight, spirit, heart, desire and determination from the team is surely something that makes Jose proud as much as it does me.

I just hope we get the chance to meet Bayern again this season to put the record straight.

Chelsea, I am so proud of you.

Carefree & KTBFFH!
