Premier League giants Chelsea have released club legend Frank Lampard and the 35-year-old veteran midfielder will head to the World Cup as a free agent.
Frank Lampard joins the likes of Ashley Cole, Samuel Eto’o and Mark Schwarzer in the ‘released’ list of Chelsea F.C.
But as per the league rules, there is a possibility that the midfielder may re-negotiate his contract at the club after the World Cup ends.
The Premier League's official website says: "Please note that players signified as a 'free transfer' or released by a club could remain there next season and so this list should not be seen as definitive for players leaving their club."
Lampard joined the club in 2001 from West Ham United. In 13 years, he has appeared in 648 games scoring 211 goals.
He is also Chelsea’s highest goal scorer.
