Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a club record offer of £60 million for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, report The Metro.
Pogba, 21, has been a revelation in European football after making a huge gamble to leave Manchester United for Juventus several years ago. He was not being offered what he wanted by Sir Alex Ferguson and made the decision to move on from the club and start fresh in Italy.
It didn’t take him long at all to make a starting place in the first-team his own as he soon pushed Claudio Marchisio out of the side to partner Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo. He’s now won two Serie A titles and is being linked to every top club around.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with Pogba and it would not be a surprise to see either side place a bid for the Frenchman this summer.
However, it seems that Chelsea are set to try and add Pogba to a midfield that now includes Cesc Fabregas after signing him from Barcelona for £30m.
The highest transfer fee Chelsea have paid in their history was £50m on Fernando Torres when they signed him from Liverpool in 2011. He has failed to live up to that price-tag, meaning the Blues will be wary of a similar problem with Pogba.
