What’s the rumour?

Chelsea are reportedly in active talks with Robert Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi. The Daily Star exclusive claims that The Blues are leading the race to sign Bayern Munich striker this summer.

The Premier League side will have to pay a whopping fee of around £70 million to sign the Poland international as per the report. Lewandowski has three years left on his current contract but his agent has reportedly offered him to top European clubs.

In case you didn’t know...

Lewandowski was set to sign for Blackburn Rovers but a volcano came in the way of the English club. The Polish striker was set to fly in to complete his move but the Icelandic ash cloud in 2008 held him back from travelling to England.

Borussia Dortmund took advantage of this situation and signed him up. The striker spent 4 seasons at the Signal Iduna Park before moving to Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

He has been on top of his form for the Bundesliga champions ever since but has been linked with a move away from Germany this summer.

The heart of the matter

Daily Star claim that Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool are also interested in signing Lewandowski this summer. Los Blancos are deemed to be the favourites in the report despite claims of Chelsea being the ones in talks.

Manchester United have also been mentioned by the English publication. The report that the Red Devils would jump on the chance to sign the Bayern Munich striker, especially with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaving for LA Galaxy last month.

Rumour probability: 2/10

Chelsea have Morata and Giroud in the squad with Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham out on loan. These strikers are more than enough for The Blues right now.

Author’s Take

Unless Conte decides to let go of one of the two in his squad right now, there is no way Chelsea will be spending on a striker. Lewandowski might be leaving Bayern Munich this summer but it won't be to Chelsea.
