Chelsea star Eden Hazard may soon find himself playing alongside his brother Thorgan Hazard. Chelsea is reportedly interested in bringing back Thorgan back to Stamford Bridge having previously signed the player from Lens, back in 2012.
Chelsea signed the midfielder after they successfully managed a deal for the older Hazard with Lille.
Chelsea sold the player permanently to Borussia Monchengladbach on February 2015 for a fee in the region of £6 million. Although the player signed a 5-year contract, Chelsea have a buy back clause included in the contract. It is believed that the player’s recent run of form has forced the Chelsea think-tank to consider re-signing the player.
Chelsea will have to exercise the buy-back clause before 31st December to land the midfielder next summer. In that case, Borussia Monchengladbach will pocket in a fee of £12.8 million from the London club. The 23-year old Belgian is an attacking midfielder much like his brother Eden and Kylian.
The player is currently proving his worth with German side Borussia Monchengladbach and has started the season remarkably well. Thorgan has already racked up 6 goals in 7 matches this season for Gladbach and performed superbly against Werder Bremen on Saturday and netted twice to help his team win 4-1.
According to German newspaper Bild, it is believed that Chelsea scouts will travel to see the midfielder, as Monchengladbach take on RB Leipzig in their next league match.
Having arrived at Chelsea as a promising youngster in 2012, he was immediately loaned out to Zulte Waregem. After 2 years, in 2014, the Belgian was again loaned to Borussia Monchengladbach, a move that became permanent a year later. Since then he has managed 77 appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring 11 goals and providing 16 assists.
The player seems to be enjoying his stay and had this to say regarding the recent speculations:
“I signed a contract here because I want to play here. I’m not wasting a single thought on Chelsea, I’m totally focused on my job here which is helping Gladbach with my goals. I play up front a bit more and also in a more central position. It’s normal I score more goals.”
Although Hazard has dismissed talk of a return to the Bridge, the player previously said that he will not rule out any opportunity to reunite with the Blues should an offer be put forward.
Back when he signed for Borussia Monchengladbach he said, “I am focusing on excelling at Borussia Monchengladbach, but I still hope to play for Chelsea one day.”
