Chelsea’s new import Diego Costa has been ruled out for a period of four to six weeks after the Spaniard suffered a hamstring injury during training on Wednesday as per reports emerging out of London.
Costa joined the Blues from Atletico Madrid this off-season for a fee of £32million after scoring 36 goals in all competitions for the La Liga champions last season. His performances played a huge part in Atletico Madrid winning the La Liga after a gap of nearly two decades. They also reached the finals of the Champions League last season on the back of Costa’s goals
If first appearances are anything to go by, the Spaniard looks like giving Chelsea the forward they had craved for ever since the heydays of Didier Drogba. Costa has taken to life at Stamford Bridge and the Premier League like duck to water, scoring in each of his first two Premier League games for the Blues.
The news might also prompt Chelsea to refrain from selling Fernando Torres, who had been linked with a move to Serie A duo Roma and Milan in recent weeks.
Chelsea might even venture out to find another striker in the closing days of the transfer window to find a suitable replacement if Torres was to leave.
Mourinho is expected to rely on Didier Drogba and Andre Schurrle to lead the attacking front if the Spaniard is not available for the abovementioned period.
