Brazilian full back Filipe Luis intends to stay with La Liga Champions Atletico Madrid next season. Luis has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, after Ashley Cole confirmed that he will be leaving the Blues this summer.
Luis had played a crucial role in Atletico Madrid’s title winning campaign, has a contract until 2017 with Spanish club.
Speaking to O Globo, Luis says, "I have a contract for three more years. My thought is to continue.”
"We have to lift our heads high after the Champions League final defeat and think about the next goal."
After a stunning season with Atletico Madrid, Luis’ hard work hasn’t paid off as the Brazilian had been overlooked by Brazil’s National coach Luiz Felipe Scolari. Luis was not selected in Brazil’s 23-man squad. Cross town rival Real Madrid’s left back Marcelo has been picked over him.
With Luis ruling out a possible move, Chelsea will need to look for other options in the market in search of a new left back. Chelsea were previously linked with Southampton’s Luke Shaw and Valencia’s Juan Bernat.
Luke Shaw is likely to be the best option for Chelsea as he has played a couple of seasons in the English Premier League and is a Chelsea fan since his childhood.
