Chelsea targets star midfielder Luka Modric

After alerting a few Premier League clubs about a potential January transfer, Luka Modric, is being chased by Blues yet again as a possible replacement for Frank Lampard. Chelsea lost out on the 27-year-old two years ago with a £40m bid, from Premier League rivals Tottenham.

A report from Crunchsports.com has states that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is readying a bid that is valued up to £36 million to bring the Croatian star back to England.

It was clear that the former Tottenham midfielder is a misfit in the team and is in desperate need of a fresh start, after a Spanish newspaper called Modric’s deal with Real Madrid as “The worst La Liga signing of the season.”

After losing Brazilian midfielder Taison to Shakhtar Donestk yesterday, the time is now for Chelsea to jump at the opportunity to add Modric to the club.
