Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to re-open talks with long serving Blues veteran, Frank Lampard, to keep him at Stamford Bridge. Majority, if not all, of the Chelsea fans will be delighted if this actually does work out. The Blues veteran scored a penalty in the 5-1 demolition of Southampton in FA Cup, and now is equal to Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon with 193 goals. He is now just 10 goals shy of breaking Bobby Tambling’s club record of 202 – a mark Lampard is desperate to overhaul. Lampard’s representatives have yet to hear from Chelsea, but the player is keen to stay in the hope of persuading the club to offer him a two-year agreement.
Interim Blues boss Benitez said: “Frank is a good pro, he is doing well, he is under contract, and he is doing fine. I know they have conversations (over his contract) sometimes but the main thing for me as coach is to bring the best out of him.”
Manchester United and QPR have shown interest in signing Lampard, should the Blues fail to keep the long serving midfielder at Stamford Bridge .
Chelsea are looking to sign Spain Under-21 international midfielder Isco from Malaga, in hopes to strengthen the midfield. But whatever happens to Lampard, Malaga starlet Isco looks to be heading to Stamford Bridge.
